Heather Boyd
Heather Boyd is owner and proprietor of Pillar IP, Inc., an intellectual property law agency with virtual offices in Ottawa, Toronto and Waterloo, Ontario. She has been working in the intellectual property law field since 2001 and is a registered Trademark Agent entitled to act on her clients' behalf before the Canadian Intellectual Property Office. Heather is also recognized by the United States Patent & Trademarks Office (US PTO) to act on behalf of Canadian nationals/companies. She founded Pillar IP, Inc. in October 2012.
Heather is an active member in the intellectual property community, currently holding the position of Past-Chair of the Membership and Information Committee of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) and is an active member of the Non-Lawyer Trademark Agents Committee, Sole and Small Practice Committee and Women in IP Committee, a licensed member of the College of Patent and Trademark Agents (CPATA). Heather is an active volunteer and IP advisor in many community charities and not-for-profit organizations.
As a certified sommelier, Heather also volunteers her time at various galas, conferences, and events with wine & spirits presentations. She has been on the executive of several Whisky Tasting clubs in Ottawa as well and competed competitively as a Highland Dancer. Heather maintains a healthy lifestyle through fitness training and hiking. Heather has a vlog under the Pillar IP Youtube Channel for IP Somm™; an awareness campaign to make IP more palatable.
